Speed Hooks and Eyelets - BootsUpdated 14 hours ago
When designing our boot collection, we opted to use speed hooks for the majority of styles, prioritizing simplicity, convenience, and functionality. We are often asked why we use speed hooks at all, and the answer is that when we prioritize the customer's experience, we believe it's much easier to put on and take off your boots with speed hooks. It is our experience that with eyelets, you're required to unlace one or two of the top eyelets to remove the footwear. Your pant legs often cover this area anyway, so from a cosmetic perspective, the hooks versus eyelets don't make much of a difference because this area of the boot is often covered up.
The speed hooks are designed to spin slightly, allowing them to follow the laces as they are torqued in different directions. If they didn't move, the laces would likely break too often because the hooks would slowly wear them down. If you straighten the hooks out, it shouldn't be too difficult, and they shouldn't stray too far from their original position. We often skip the speed hooks when lacing up, as it's quicker and provides a bit more flexibility at the shin and ankles.
We often carry a small inventory of hardware that can be purchased if you're interested. Our hardware is made of brass and is available in several color options, making it suitable for replacement if desired.
