Shell CordovanUpdated 4 months ago

All of our Shell Cordovan comes from Horween Tannery in Chicago. To care for your shell cordovan, we recommend investing in a high-quality conditioner designed explicitly for shell cordovan, e.g., Saphir Cordovan Creme, and a horsehair brush. Both of these are essential for proper shell care. Conditioners such as Venetian Leather Balm will also work. We recommend sticking to non-pigmented, neutral conditioners.

  • Clean with a damp, nonabrasive cloth to remove dust and grime. Allow to completely dry – never apply heat to speed up the drying process.

  • Brush each boot or shoe vigorously for a few minutes.

  • If the shell feels dry or coarse to the touch, apply a light layer of conditioner (see above) to the upper leather.

  • After letting the conditioned footwear rest for a minimum of ten minutes, brush each shoe for a good few minutes.

You may notice that water spots develop when exposed to the elements; vigorously brush the leather, and they will fade/blend back in.
